There is also a wide variety of animals including bushbuck, sitatunga antelope, crocodile, elephant, genet, giraffe and hippo.
The birdlife is very unique with species from east, central and southern Africa flocking to the “Bird Island” to breed. The common birds are – Cormorant, African darter, hadada ibis, sacred ibis, little egret, hamerkop, African open-billed stork, Egyptian geese, Bee eaters, fish eagle, heron etc. Nile Perch and Tilapia are the common fish in the Lake.
